Reverbathon 2017 – A 10 Year Celebration

Celebrating 10 years of broadcasting, independent radio station RadioReverb launches REVERBATHON 2017 – their annual fundraiser which, for one day only, helps Brighton’s only not for profit radio station, to fundraise and promote the variety of programmes across the local airwaves.

The 12-hour fundraiser runs from 7 am on Saturday 11th March to 7 pm, completely live from their new studios in Brighton’s Open Market, just off London Road. The Reverbathon will not only raise money for the radio station, enabling it to remain playlist and advert free, but it will also celebrate and promote the diversity of its shows and presenters, across the day.

At the start of each hour a different presenter will take to the airwaves promoting their different style of shows, and other presenters, live guests and live bands will be dropping in for short sessions and chats, making it a totally unique local radio experience no longer heard locally, and endorsing its aims and objectives – #sounds of diversity. Already scheduled from 7am on Saturday 11th March are – What’s The Craic’s? Irish host Anthony Martin linking up with Reverb experienced broadcaster Kairen Kemp, with live music from local musician Miles Ward followed by, Emma Inch, The Sharon & Ruben Show, Alan Wares with Albion Roar, Mark Johnson & Paul Wilson, Melita Dennett & Kathy Caton, Pete Jones, Tara Rez & Ben Noble.

In a new twist the last hour will be given over to whomever can donate the largest amount in the silent auction. The wining DJ bidder will be a radio star for one hour only and will choose whatever music they would like to play for the final hour from 6-7pm.

Radio Station Director, Tracey Allen said – “It is an incredible achievement that this not for profit radio station has been broadcasting to the Brighton and Hove audience for 10 years, when RadioReverb first obtained its FM licence from OFCOM. This has now been extended until 2022. We host our annual Reverbathon to raise money so that we can keep our station advert free and this year’s activity love from the Open Market is the most exciting day we have ever put on. The variety of programmes, live music and shows means there will be something for everyone and we are asking listeners and local businesses to come down to the Open Market on Saturday to say hello and support our big day.”

RadioReverb is the heart and sound of the local community and with its team of home-grown broadcasters delivers a very strong social action schedule of programs for the Brighton and Hove community. All of the money raised goes directly back into the running of the station, upgrading equipment and giving an opportunity to bring in new shows and opportunities for new local voices. It also has a very strong successful social action programming commitment with award winning shows supporting the LGBT community plus refugees, the disabled, and those diagnosed with HIV.
